Butterfly Single-Aisle

Butterfly Single-Aisle is the first product in the Butterfly family of seats to be developed for aviation. Optimized for single-aisle aircraft, Butterfly Single-Aisle’s extra-wide seats and lower pitch requirement makes full use of the available cabin width, while an all-manual option for seat recline minimizes weight as well as maintenance cost.

The 2-in-1 Butterfly Single-Aisle transforms readily between flatbed suites & regional business class recliners, enabling the same aircraft to operate efficiently on both regional and global networks. Airlines will be able to offer competitive flatbeds on long-haul flights without sacrificing density on shorter flights, which increases the versatility of the new generation of extended range single-aisle aircraft such as the A321NEO and the B737Max.

Butterfly’s unconventional configuration offers passengers new levels of well-being, including a staggered placement that maximizes distance between passengers, as well as dedicated and uncompromised sleeping and seating surfaces.

Comfort Features

• Flip-over seat back with a softer and contoured side for optimal comfort when used as a seat, and a firmer reverse side that provides better support for sleeping

• 7” Cradle recline mechanism with manual or electric actuation

• Aisle armrest, 3.5” wide with dropdown option to facilitate egress for DOT compliance

• 6-way adjustable side headrest with sliding and double-tilt pivot

• Padded back-mounted footrest that doubles as a leg rest

• Retractable and lockable SCHROTH® sleeping belt for a comfortable sleep and an uncluttered look

Spatial Features

• Evenly flat, diamond-shaped 79” long* bed, and up to 36” of width across hips, ideal for lateral sleeping position

• Multi-functional side couch for passengers to stretch out, switch positions, or spread out their belongings

• Retractable armrest that increases seat width from 21” to 24”

• 10” offset between adjacent seats that increases effective width and maximizes separation and distance between passengers in dual seat mode

Provisions for a range of pre-certified and customized entertainment and lighting solutions have been considered in the design of the upper shell, whether airlines opt for premium embedded systems or more economical options.
